Brown County native Alvin Haggard, 64, of St Road 135 North, died Thursday, March 24, 1988, at Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin. The son of George and Bina Sosbe Haggard, he was born July 28, 1923. Mr. Haggard had been a carpenter with Baker Forms of Indianapolis and owned the Friendly Tavern in Morgantown during the 1960s. He had also been an Indiana Excise Policeman for 12 years. Surviving include a son, Kenneth Haggard of Morgantown; three sisters, Opal Walker of Morgantown, Dorothy Smith of Trafalgar and Leona Helton of Indianapolis; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son, Lester Haggard; a sister Sylvia Bailey; and four brothers, Fremont, Lester, Clemous, and Morris Haggard. Services were Sunday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Hicks officiating. Burial was in East Hill Cemetery. March 30, 1988
