Mitchell Jones was a son of Mathew Jones and his wife Elizabeth Inman of Burke Co., GA.(both buried at INMAN cemetery, Magruder, Burke Co., GA) He came to south GA as a young man and married Sarah P. Spain, daughter of John Wm. Spain and Elizabeth Young of Brooks Co., GA. They were 1st cousins, once removed as Mitchell's mother and Sarah's grandmother were sisters, which also made them double kin with the Berry Jones and Sophia Inman children.
