E. B. Vinson, 78, Is Laid To Rest

Funeral rites for E. B. Vinson, 78, farmer of Route 2 Meigs, who was fatally bitten by a rattlesnake while he was fishing last Thursday on Bridge Creek, were held Saturday afternoon in New Bethel Church. Burial followed in the New Bethel Cemetery.

Members of Rock Hill Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Vinson was a member, served as pallbearers and had charge of the graveside rites. The church services were conducted by the Reverends J. G. Garrison, Paul Golden and Harvey Giddens.

Mr. Vinson, who had farmed on Meigs Route 2 for 61 years, was a native of Baldwin County, Ga. and was well known in the Hamilton district where he resided.
He was struck on the leg by a big rattlesnake while walking a path near the river and died nine hours later.

Surviving Mr. Vinson are his wife; four sons, W. T. Vinson, Duluth, Ga., Curtis Vinson, Palatka, Fla., Ellis Vinson, Ochlocknee, Ga., and S-Sgt. Duell Vinson, Fort Campbell, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. H. M. Burgess, Mrs. T. L. Roberts, Mrs. E. V. Fallin, Jr., and Mrs. C.T. Burgess, all of Route 2 Meigs; three brothers, Tom Vinson, Route 2, Meigs, Ben Vinson, Gordon, Ga. and Tim Vinson, Milledgeville, Ga.; 30 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
