Ivan Meyer.....

was born on January 23, 1923 in Diamond Lake Township to Christ and Carrie (Christensen) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at the Diamond Lake Church, and raised and educated in the Diamond Lake Township area. Ivan served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from March 21, 1944 to May 4, 1946. He served aboard the USS Burleigh, a troop support ship, as a Seaman First Class.

On June 18, 1946 Ivan and Marjorie Nielsen were united in marriage at the Diamond lake church. The couple made their home on the Nielsen family farm in Drammen Township. They farmed until 1966 and continued to live on the farm until 1980. They then moved to their home on Lake Benton at Don Ja-Lei Beach. Ivan also worked for Draper Construction in Lake Benton, Modular Structures in Pipestone, and Stor-Mor Grain Bins in Lake Benton. He was presently employed with the maintenane department at Benton Valley Manor.

Mr. Meyer was a member of Grace Lutheran Churh in Lake Benton and a past Board Member and Trustee. He was past Post Commander of the Henry Sollie Post #10 of the American Legion in Lake Benton. He was also a member of the Lake Benton Sportsman's club. Ivan enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and many other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed reading.

Ivan Meyer died on Friday, April 7, 1995 at Lake Benton at the age of 72.

Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife Majorie Meyer of Lake Benton; three sons, Gary (Dagna) Meyer of Bloomington, MN, Dan (Brenda) Meyer of Woodstock, MN, and Mark (Jeanne) Meyer of Lake Benton, MN; six grandchildren, Lisa Brown, Chris Meyer, Michael, Erin and Joe Meyer, and Sarah Meyer; two brothers, Haran (Geraldine) Meyer of Lake Benton, and Marvin (Faye) Meyer of Lake Benton; three sisters Marian Johnson of Richmond, CA, Naomi (Robert) Bauman of Watertown, SD, and Shirley Darnell of Sioux Falls, SD, and several nieces an nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Ed Meyer.
