George was born in Diedenshausen, Germany, the second oldest of Johannes Homrighausen. His older brother John was one of the original settlers along Stone Creek, but died in York County, PA, while preparing to return to homestead his property in Ohio. George immigrated in 1818 aboard the brig "Susan", arriving in Baltimore before settling in Pennsylvania for several years before moving to Ohio. His younger brother Johann Philip settled near him. The younger brothers attended the Jerusalem Church where they are buried.
