Doris graduated from"Hardy High School in 1942. She married Rollo Gass on February 15, 1950. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. She loved to dance to the music of the Glen Miller Band. A camera was always in her hand. She enjoyed cross-stitching, embroidery and making sun catchers.
Doris had an interest in Native American culture and horses - even owning her own race horse! She was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Doris was a long time member of several organizations: Ladies Aid, Hastings Christian Women's Club, MNO Club, and Eastern Star. She was active on the County Elections Board and a member of the Church of the Plains, serving as a deacon.
Doris is survived by her husband Rollo Gass; daughter, Trish Shepard of Edgar, Nebraska; son, Mike and daughter-in-law Diana of Edmund, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, many relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ralph Jr. and sister, Linda Channel.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2008 at 1 :00 p.m. from the Church of the Plains in Edgar. Pastor Ellen Campbell officiated with interment in the Edgar Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Church of the Plains in Edgar
