Joe was united in marriage to Rose Navratil on May 19, 1924 at Saint John Nepomuk in Lake Reno. He and Rose farmed in Lake Mary Township until 1939 at which time they moved to Alexandria where he had various jobs. As a young man he liked to play ball and fish, in his later years Joe preferred to play cards.
Mr. Bruzek died November 30, 1990 at the age of 89, at the Lakeview Care Center in Glenwood, Minnesota. He is survived by wife: Rose of Alexandria; two sons: Robert Bruzek of Aurora, Colorado; and James and Kathy Bruzek of Buffalo; four daughters: Evelyn Palmquist of Alexandria; Ruby Kuhn of Avon; Betty Nelson of Fort Collins, Colorado; Rosemary and Allan Johnson of Mound; 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother: Edward Bruzek of Osakis; and two sisters: Christine Patrick of Alexandria; and Mamie Mass of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his son Richard, his parents, and three brothers, John, Frank and Jim Bruzek and one sister Annie Zavadil.
Funeral services were held December 4, 1990 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with Father Al Ludwig officiating. Pallbearers were Eugene Vacek, Verlyn Bruzek, John Loch, Mike Loch, Jerry Winter and Troy Nelson. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria, Minnesota. Services directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Home.
