Besides his passing within the year of his birth, I suspect Samuel may have been a sickly child for another reason. His parents did not rush to have to have many of their children baptized - indeed, a number of their girls were all done on the same day in 1874, irrespective of their ages. Samuel was baptised inside of two months - in fact, he was christened the day before he died.
His stone is small and broken, and lays on the ground, the dates difficult to read, so we are lucky church records survive to show his brief life.
