Above dates are approximate.
Sarah makes her sole appearance on the census in 1860 (taken in June) when she is 7 months old, and so was born most likely in late 1859, perhaps November or December. This doesn't seem to work, as sister Emmaline was born in September of that same year if her gravestone is correct.
Sarah died before the 1870 census. Her family was in Berrysburg during this period and she has siblings who died young buried at Salem/Peace United cemetery, so it is likely she is there but unmarked. She does not appear in church records for either christening or burial.
The current Romberger historian, at this 2015 writing, thinks it probable that Sarah and Emmaline may be the same child. There is merit to that possibility, in that all the other family children are marked in this cemetery- she is not. One wonders if it might have been destroyed with time or if there never was such a marker, or even such a person.
Mary Romberger, the mother of these children, reportedly had 16. We already have one "Infant Unknown Romberger". Eliminating Sarah means we would have two unknown children, and that is hard to accept. Almost as hard as having children born in September and November or December of the same year.
