Ellevina Overbeck was born March 1, 1820, in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Henry and Maria Magdalena Kressler Overbeck. On February 11, 1849, she married John Weaver Bachman, in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Peter and Maria Magdalena Weaver Bachman. John and Ellevina were the parents of 3 sons: Peter Henry (died young), Titus Overbeck and John Overbeck Bachman.


From Death Records at Easton, Northampton County Courthouse:

"Levina Bachman, 80 years, 10 months and 1 day. Housewife, married. Born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Died January 2, 1901 in Hellertown of old age (duration 3 months?). Buried January 7, 1901 in Hellertown Cemetery."


Obituary for Ellevina Overbeck Bachman from the Bethlehem Globe-Times, Wednesday, January 2, 1901:

"Mrs. John Bachman, one of the oldest and best known residents of Hellertown, died this morning at 5 o'clock after a lingering illness of cancer of the stomach. Mrs. Bachman was one of the pioneers of Lower Saucon Township, having lived in Hellertown nearly all of her life. She was aged 80 years, 7 months and 1 day. She is survived by her husband and by two sons, John, warden of the Easton jail, and Titus, of Hellertown. The funeral will be held on Monday morning, January 7th, at 9:30 o'clock. Services will be held at the Hellertown Church and interment in the cemetery adjoining."

"Warden Bachman's Mother Dead. Mrs. Elvina Bachman, wife of John Bachman, of Hellertown, and mother of Warden John O. Bachman, of the Northampton County Prison, died at 12 o'clock last night at her home. Her death was caused by a complication of ailments. Mrs. Bachman was 81 years of age. Besides her husband and son, John O. Bachman, of this city, she is survived by another son, Titus O. Bachman, who resides in Lower Saucon Township."
