Obituary for John Overbeck Bachman from the Easton Express, October, 1930:

"JOHN O. BACHMAN, FORMER JAIL WARDEN, DIES. John O. Bachman, former warden of the Northampton County Prison and carpenter contractor, died of heart trouble at the home of his son-in-law, William H. Heil, Freemansburg Avenue, at Stone's Crossing, at 7 o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of two weeks. He was 76 years of age. Mr. Bachman was born at Hellertown. He learned the carpenter trade when a young man and later engaged in farming in Hellertown. In January, 1897, he was appointed warden of the Northampton County Jail and served in that capacity for seven years. Mr. Bachman also conducted the Easton Flour & Feed Company business at 144 South Third Street for a number of years. After serving as warden at the prison, Mr. Bachman entered the carpenter contracting business and followed that occupation until two weeks ago when he was stricken. Mr. Bachman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Easton; he was a past master of Hellertown Lodge, F. & A. M.; and was a member of the Zinzendorf Chapter, of Bethlehem; Lehigh Consistory, 32nd degree, Scottish Rite Masons, of Allentown; Rajah Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, of Reading; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, of Easton, and the P. O. S. of A., of Hellertown. His wife, Mrs. Helen King Bachman, died 14 years ago today. Deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William H. Heil, with whom he resided, and a brother, Titus O. Bachman, of Hellertown."
