Ivan Jacobitz, the son of Albert and Clara (Meyer) Jacobitz, was born on December 11, 1914 on a farm between Nelson and Mt. Clare, Nebraska. He passed away on August 15, 2008 at the Nelson Good Samaritan Society in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Ivan was one of ten children born to this marriage. He was baptized in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska on December 26, 1953. His sister, Esther Willett Kimminau and 2 sons, Larry and Tom Willett lived with him for a time before his marriage to Ivalee Webber on January 2, 1954. This union was blessed with 8 children. He cared for his parents prior to that time and farmed while his three brothers served our country during WWII. Ivan loved to fish and would do so when time would allow away from the farm. He enjoyed watching boxing, wrestling, and football on TV. His family was what meant the most to him especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edgar, Melvin and Lyle and sisters, Edna Wade, Evelyn Conger, Esther Kimminau, Irene Kalassinsky, Inez Beal and Nellie Maxine Ferrell and one grandson Daniel Hartshorn.

He is survived by his wife Ivalee of Nelson, Nebraska; daughters, Linda Hartshorn and Delbert of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeanette Wolfe and husband Bruce of Fairfield, Nebraska, Rose Titus and husband Charlie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Teresa Neal and husband John of Lincoln, Nebraska; sons, Vic Jacobitz and wife Teresa of Nelson, Nebraska, Dan Jacobitz and wife Micki of Nelson, Nebraska, Bruce
Jacobitz and wife Becky of Nelson, Nebraska and Terre Jacobitz and wife Kim of Nelson, Nebraska, grandchildren, Rebekah Hartshorn, Jared Wolfe, Justin Wolfe,
Nick and wife Melissa Jacobitz and Josh and wife Stephanie Jacobitz, Markee Jacobitz, Jaycee Jacobitz, Michael Jacobitz, Jacob Jacobitz, Christian Walker, Aaron Walker, Jackson Neal, Evan Jacobitz and Emily Jacobitz and one
great-granddaughter, Natalie Jacobitz. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Jean Jacobitz of Hebron, Nebraska, Alverta and Bob Dudley of Waterloo, Nebraska and Laura Webber of Lincoln, Nebraska along with a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Father Brad Zitek officiating. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross", "On Eagles Wings" and "The Strife Is O'er" sung by Alfred & Janell Hanson and Lorraine Rempe as organist. Lector was Jerome Mazour.

Pallbearers were Phil Wehrman, Ron Meyer, Gary Ostdiek, Clark Grueber, Randy Porter, Doug Porter, Gary Follmer, and Don Cassell. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Porter, Louis Keim, Ralph Bottenfield, Eldrick Grummert, Everett Barfknecht, Hans Christensen, Fritz Grueber, Alfred Miller and Everett Meyer.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers memorials may go in care of the family.
