Press Enterprise, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Thursday, September 27, 1984: Bruce W. Pursel of Danville R.D.3, a long-time president of the Montour Mutual Insurance Co., in Danville Wednesday afternoon. He was 83. Mr. Pursel was admitted to the hospital Friday. He was president of the insurance company for 20 years. He was also a township supervisor for 36 years and president of the Montour County Township Supervisors Association for 25 years. He served as treasurer of Columbia Hill Cemetery for 33 years. He was a life member of Buckhorn Fire Co. and a member of Montour DeLong Fair Association. Born April 30, 1901, Mayberry Township, Columbia County, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Alice Mausteller Pursel. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbia Hill, and served on the church council for 45 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle Ande, to whom he was married 64 years; a son, Lee Pursel, Milton; and five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Harriet) Leighow, Millville; Mrs. Melvin (Lavona) Robenolt, Danville; Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Snyder, Millville; Mrs. Daniel (Charlotte) Stark, Danville; Mrs. Jacob (Barbara) Swisher, Bloomsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara Kitchen, Danville; and Grace Dildine of Bloomsburg.
