Benneth was the son of Thea Bangen (or Dangen) of Minnesota, and John Martinus Stubson of England. On November 22, 1939 in the state of Washington Ben enlisted in the US regular Army. He served in the US Army Air Force for about 17 years. Including WW II, and the Korean War. Prior to his military service Ben attended college for 2 years.

In 1944 he married Francis Jeanette Garber, the daughter of Nellie Jane (Stevenson) and Chester Garber. The couple lived in the state of Washington; Littlerock, California, and Los Angeles County, CA where they later divorced in 1976. They had no children.

Benneth remarried 17 January 1981 to Esther Christine (Palm) Dowgiallo in Clark County, Nevada. He had 5 step-children. He is buried with his wife Esther.

He was a christian, Pentecostal faith.
