Funeral services were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock for Mrs. Sarah Echols Looney, 89, wife of W. H. Looney, who died at her residence here yesterday after a long illness.

Services were held from the home of her son, Dennis O. Looney, with the Rev. W. F. Wimberley, Pastor of the Baptist Church, officiating, and the Rev. B. T. Waites of the Methodist Church, assisting. Interment was in the City Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Looney was a lifelong resident of Athens and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, W. H. Looney; one daughter, Mrs. C. L. Watts of Huntsville; one son, Dennis O. Looney of Athens; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
