R. M. Echols Laid to Rest

Funeral services for R.M. Echold, age 74, was held at the First Methodist Church. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery.

Mrs. Echols has been a resident of Albany for the past four years.. He came to Albany for Delta County, where he has made his home since.

Mr. Echolds was a native of Georgia. He was born September 18, 1858, In 1886 he moved to Delta County, Texas, It was at this place that he met Miss Lucie E. Reynolds. In October 1888 he was married to her. To this happy union were born 11 children, 3, of who died in infancy.

For the past year or year and a half, Mr. Echols was in comparatively ill health. About one year ago he was forced to undergo a major operation. Due to a weakened heart condition, he underwent the operation without anesthetics. This was a remarkable feat for an elderly gentleman. since the operation, his health was greatly weakened.

Mr. Echols death was due to a severe heart attack. he survived only a few minutes after the attack. Nature had been very kind to him, as he had lived some fourteen years past the allotted three score and ten.
