Final Rites Held Tuesday For Mrs. C. D. Athon, 77.

Mrs. Estella Athon, 77, of Lowe Community, died Monday afternoon at an Americus hospital after an illness of one week.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Macon County, of which she was a member. Elder J. W. Hartley of Cordele, officiated. Burial was in Oglethorpe Cemetery.

A native of Sumter County, Mrs. Athon was the widow of Cincy D. Athon, prominent Macon County farmer, who died ten years ago.[2-21-1946].

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Rufus Ellis of Schley County; Mrs. Bernard Snipes of Dublin; Mrs. Hillard Dennard of Americus and Mrs. Essau Lashley of Oglethorpe; one son, Martin Athon of Montezuma; one sister, Mrs. Irene [Justice] Athon; three half-sisters, Mrs. Minnie English of Oglethorpe, Mrs. Bryant Lee of Andersonville; Mrs. Gladys Athon of DeSota; two half-brothers, Allen Justice of Florida, and L. L. Justice of Schley County; 12 grandchildren, Marcene Ellis of Ellaville; Earl and Ben Snipes of Dublin; Lowell Athon of Cordele, Mrs. B. G. Bickley of Marshallville; Jean and Kenneth Athon of Americus; Louis, Kelmar, Wayne, Jeaneane Lashley of Oglethorpe, Mrs. Kenneth Card of Americus; four great-grandchildren.
