John Swartz Is Buried At Murray (Indiana)
Death Occurred Monday At Fort Wayne and Services Held Here
Funeral services for John Swartz, 78, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Thoma funeral home, in charge of Rev. W. M. Elliot. Burial was at Murray. Mr. Swartz died Monday at Fort Wayne.
He was born in Germany (*see note below) to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Swartz on Mar. 20, 1855 and is the last of a family of 12.
He is survived by a son and three daughters, Mrs. Chester (Eva) Thorp ,and Mrs. Daniel (Vertie) Burkett, Bluffton; Elbert swartz, Portland, and Mrs. Ira (Sarah) Meek, Parker, and four grandchildren. Three children are dead.
(**genealogical notes...John's birthplace was Montgomery County, Ohio and his father's full name was Peter Jacob Swartz. His mother's name was Catherine. Several of the family were under the impression he was born in Germany. It is correctly listed in the funeral home's records.)
John Swartz died at the Allen County Infirmary of organic heart disease.
All of his children were with his first wife, Nancy Burkett.
