John married Mary Ellen Swiggart in Fremont County on 24 Dec 1871. They had six children: Mattie Ellen (Means), Leanna (Shaver), Rose (Robb), Charles, William and John.
Rose and Charles died from consumption in their early twenties. John and Mary Ellen Hooper raised Helen Robb, my grandmother, who was 2 years old when her parents, Rose and Albert Robb, died.
John and Mary Ellen lived in the vicinity of Hamburg from the time of their marriage until their deaths. In 1893 they moved to a farm northeast of Hamburg and west of Riverton. John was a farmer amd died at this farm home in 1910 at the age of 59 years.
