George A. Beckett, 82, Central, Wood county, died in Camden-Clark Memorial hospital yesterday morning.
He was born at Waverly, a son of the late Wayne and Jennie Shears Beckett, and was employed by the State Road Commission for many years. He was a member of the Briscoe Baptist Church.
On July 10, 1903, he was married to Iva E. Headley, who survives with two sons, John a. Beckett, Hollywood, Calif., and George T. Beckett of Vienna; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Jarvis and Mrs. Nathan Myers, both of Vienna, Mrs. John Wassan, Summit, O., and Mrs. John Stephens, Parkersburg.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ella Lauderman, Waverly, and Mrs. Laura Kimble of Parkersburg; two half-brothers, Fred Roberts, Coolville, O., and Arch Roberts of Parkersburg; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Moore, Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Albert, William and Harry Beckett are deceased.
Private services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Doudna and McClure funeral home, Marietta. Burial will be in the Riverview cemetery, Williamstown.
