Veda J. Wasson

Veda J. Wasson, 90, of Ravenswood, formerly of Boaz, went home on July 17, 2006, in Jackson General Hospital.

She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late George Arthur and Iva Elizabeth Headley Beckett. Mrs. Wasson retired from the former American Viscose Corporation and was formerly employed as a cook by the Wood County Board of Education and the Williamstown Pottery Plant. She was a longtime member of Summitt Valley U.M. Church.

Veda is survived by one daughter, Delores A. Alfred of Ravenswood; three sisters, Mabel Meyers, Bessie Jarvis and Varra Stephens, all of Vienna; five grandchildren, Peggy Stalnaker and husband, Bob, Fonda Kidder and husband, Denver, Janet Somerville and husband, Tim, Penny Carte and husband, Ronnie, all of Ravenswood, and Jeff Wasson and wife, Denise, of Belpre; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Wasson in 1988; one son, Gary E. Wasson; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bob Alfred officiating. There will be no visitation. The Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is privileged to serve the family.
