Mrs. John Tax, 75, passed away at her home in the village Armistice Day at 1 p.m. A slight stroke hastened her death, although she had been suffering from cancer the past twelve months.
Sophia Nytes was born in Sheboygan, Wis. February 2, 1872 and married John Tax at St. John's church, Union Hill, near New Prague, Minn., in 1893. They came to this community at once to live, remaining here for eight years. They then returned to Union Hill to live for a period of ten years, after which they again came to Morrison County.
They spent the largest span of their life on the farm, just north of the village and then retired in Pierz ten years ago.
Mrs. Tax has been a member of The Christian Mothers Society for many years.
Besides her husband, two sons and five daughters survive, Joe, St. Paul; Frank, Pierz; Mrs. Edmund Brand, St. Paul; and Mrs. Gertrude Jamma, Mrs. Tony Marshik, Mrs. Felix Poser and Mrs. Frank Gangl, all of this place. There are twenty grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for Friday morning at 9 a.m., at St. Joseph's church, Pierz.
