Thomas Jones III is the son of Thomas and Levina (Lash) Jones. Thomas III was born in Campbell County, KY where the family resided near the Stockham families. Both families, the Jones and the Stockhams, left Campbell County, KY. in 1838, and went to Van Buren County, Iowa, where Thomas Jones II later died.
Thomas III, with his mother Levina and siblings, along with the Stockham families, moved to Linn Co. Kansas in May 1856. Thomas III married Mary Maria Stockham on 06 Feb 1859, and they remained in the Fulton area. At least ten children were born to Thomas and Mary: George, Oscar, Charles, Cyril, Effy, Alfy, Ernest, Alfred, Jennie and Carrie. Thomas died in 1898, and Mary died in 1885. They share a tombstone, with inscriptions on three sides.
