Washington Marion Jones was born in 1851 to Thomas Jones (born 1803 England ) and Levina Lash (1808-1899), in Van Buren County, Iowa. The family came to Kansas in 1856 and settled near Fulton, where they remained.
Washington met Clara and they married in Mound City, KS on 23 Sept 1885 (Marriage Bk 3, pg 405). There were at least three children born to Washington and Clara: Gertrude, Mary and Marion. Daughter Eva was adopted and known as Eva Jones and was the daughter of Clara and her first husband Thomas Strickland.
A son was born to Washington and Clara in September of 1892. It is believed that the shared tombstone of Washington's mother Levinia and a George Jones (1892-1905), is that of the son born in 1892. Date of birth on stone for George is September 1892.
Both Washington and Clara Jones died in 1936.
