Daniel O. Chapman, Former Resident of LeClaire, Is Dead
Daniel O[liver] Chapman, former resident of LeClaire, died at his home, 723 Grant street, Bettendorf, at 11:30 p. m. Monday following an illness of several years. He had resided at that address since November.
Mr. Chapman was born in Leavenworth, Kan., Sept. 1, 1883, and received his education in that communtiy. Before moving to Bettendorf, he had made his home in LeClaire for five years. He married Mary E. Bartley in DeQueen, Ark., Jan. 14, 1909.
Mr. Chapman was a member of the Presbyterian church of Leavenworth. He took part in the Boxer rebellion of China and also in the Philippine insurrection. He was a member of Troop B6, U. S. Cavalry, Spanish American War Veterans and the Waler G. Neagel Camp No. 10.
Surviving are his wife, one step-daughter, Helen Bartley; one stepson, Francis Bartley of Davenport, and one sister, Mrs. Charles {Henrietta Blanche "Nettie"} Harp of Winslow, Ariz.
The body was taken to the McGinnis funeral home where services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, with burial in the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. The Rev. D. Paul Chapman will have charge of the services at the funeral home and military services at the cemetery will be in charge of the Walter Neagel camp.
