Daniel J[ames] Chapman, a native of England, who was employed nearly half a century by the Great Western Stove Company in Leavenworth, died Saturday in San Francisco.
One brother, George Chapman, and one of the four surviving sisters, Mrs. Ira [sic: Ida] Crossley, live in this city. A stepson, Sam R[udolph] Harpster, also is a resident of Leavenworth.

CHAPMAN BURIAL IN CALIFORNIA
Former Resident Who Was Employed by Local Stove Works Forty-Five Years Died Sunday
Burial of Daniel J. Chapman, 68 years old, a former resident of Leavenworth, who was well known here and who died last Sunday, probably will be held in San Francisco, Cal., where the death occurred.
Mr. Chapman was born in England and came to Leavenworth with his parents when he was a small boy.
He was employed at the Great Western Stove Company for forty-five years. Because of failing health he retired six years ago last spring at which time he moved his family to California.
Besides his widow he is survived by three sons, George Earl Chapman and William Floyd Chapman of San Francisco and Daniel Chapman, Jr., of Davenport, Ia., one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Harp of Flagstaff, Ariz., four sisters, Mrs. Ida Crossley of Leavenworth, Mrs. William [Mariah] Scherf of East Leavenworth, Mo., Mrs. L. [Matilda] Dougherty of Lake Arthur, La., Mrs. [Mary Ann] Chaplin of Southern Missouri [sic: Bourbon County, Kansas] and one brother, George Chapman of Leavenworth. Two stepchildren, Mrs. J. F. [Minnie] Douglas of San Franciso and Sam R. Harpster of Leavenworth also survive him.
