Born about 1735, John Ralston was the son of James Ralston and Mary Ralston.

John was a delegate from Northampton, Pennsylvania possibly to the Provisional Convention and to the Constitutional Convention of 1776, and the Continental Congress.

He was an American Revolutionary War veteran and Paymaster to the militia in 1781. He was the Auditor of Depreciated Accounts for Northampton County, Pennsylvania.

He married Christiana King Ralston.

Their children were: Andrew Ralston, Ann Ralston Berry, Christiana Ralston, Jane Ralston, John Ralston, Letitia "Lettie" Ralston Martin, Mary "Polly" Ralston, Robert Ralston, Samuel F. Ralston and Capt. James Ralston.

He died at age sixty.
