Duane F. "Dewey" Puckett, 86, Ashkum, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

He was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Cullom, the son of Clifford and Emma Koerner Puckett.

Mr. Puckett was a chauffeur for the U.S. government.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Clifton V.F.W. Post 2131.

He belonged to the Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum. He enjoyed driving his car.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law: Kathy and Gary Baker of Bradley, and Debbie Stark of Bourbonnais; eight grandchildren: Angie (fiance, Mark Crane) Stark, Bradley, Amber (Tom) Sherer, Las Vegas, Nev., Holly (Jesus) Quiroz, Bourbonnais, Mary Stark, Bourbonnais, Tiffany Baker, Bradley, Christopher (Kris) Stark, Bradley, Bryce Baker, Bradley, Casey (fiancee Amy Page) Baker, Bourbonnais; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ruth Massa, Mansfield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild, Jason Baker.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church in Cullom with Monsignor Thomas Mack officiating.

Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery,Cullom.
