Claud "Buster" Lawrence Stahl, Jr. was the son of Lawrence Nay and Minnie (Alice (Bareham) Stahl. He married Betty Rose Nichols on October 23, 1948. Claud "Buster" Stahl passed away at the age of 74 at Kosciusko County Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana on October 1, 2002. Claud was personnel manager at Da-Lite Screen Company for 31 years. He was active in county and state affairs. He submitted the name of Whitko for the high school when he was on the first board; he also helped on the board for the Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was known as a jolly person and a "Mr. Fit-it". He was a lifetime resident of Pierceton and a 1946 Pierceton High School graduate. He also attended Indiana and Purdue Universities. He was a retired auctioneer and served for 20 years as Washington Township trustee. He was a member of Pierceton United Methodist Church and Pierceton Lions Club where he held several offices. He also was district governor of Lions International from 1994-95 and state council chairman of Lions International. He was a member and past master of Pierceton Masonic Lodge; a member of York Rite and Mizpah Shrine Temple; first president and founder of Kosciusko County Historical Society; founding board member of Kosciusko Community Hospital, serving 13 years; seven year member of Kosciusko County Board of Education; two year member of Pierceton School Board; and founding board member of Whitko School Corp. He was the first scout master in Pierceton and served on the Boy Scout Board of Advisory and also served in the Indiana National Guard from 1948-52. Surviving are his wife, Betty Rose, Belinda Stahl, Pierceton; a son, Bradley Stahl, LaMoore, Calif.; a sister, Bunola Hathaway, Wardsaw and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at pierceton United Methodist Church, Pierceton with Pastors Chuck Sosbe and Noel Reed officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
