Wagener - Jones Ceady "Tom" Gartman, 68, of 547 Cline Taylor Road, entered into rest Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 3 at Berlin Baptist Church, Berlin Road, near Salley, with the Rev. Brian Thomason and Rev. Henry Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, near Neeses. The casket will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. for viewing. Mr. Gartman was born in Neeses, the son of the late Hazel Gartman Williams. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving 20 years and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Gartman was also a truck driver. He attended Berlin Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Lee Hutto Gartman, and a stepson, Billy Taylor Jr. Mr. Gartman is survived by his wife, Willene G. Taylor Gartman; stepdaughter, Rhonda T. Poole of Salley; two stepsons, Terry Taylor and Tony Taylor, both of Wagener; three brothers, Archie Gartman and Bobby Williams, both of Salley, and Billy Williams of Clearwater; one sister, Dorothy "Dot" Williams of West Columbia; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Blizzard Funeral Home, Wagener, and at other times at the home. © The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 2 Jul 2003
