She was born Nov. 19, 1945, in New Berlin to Max and Alice (Mathewson) Brownell.
Growing up in the New Berlin area, Penny attended New Berlin Central School.
She was manager of the New Berlin Busy Bee and owner of Penny's Place Diner of New Berlin.
Penny is survived by her companion, Wayne Herin; two sisters, Mildred Card of Castorland and Beatrice Crowell of Villa Ricka, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Bernice and Phyllis Brownell; and several nieces and nephews, Wayne, Dale, Connie, Donna, Terry,Nancy, Bonnie, Stacey, Skip, Joan, Lorraine, Steve, Tom, Butch, Mary, Diane and Gary.
She was predeceased by three brothers, "Red" Clarence Brownell, Alfred Brownell and Max Brownell Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Pastor Jeff McLallen officiating.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
