Nannie Lou (Barker) McCreary, 87, of Middletown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at Willow Knoll Retirement Center. She was born in Denniston, Ky., Menifee County, on July 4, 1912, and had lived here most of her life. Mrs. McCreary was employed at Frigidaire and retired in 1973. She was a member of the Breiel Boulevard Church of God. She belonged to many different organizations through the church as well. Among them were the Church Keenagers and Needlecraft Quilting Group. While in her eighties, she went to the Phillipine Islands where she participated with the Church Missionary Group, NA Work Camp.She leaves a daughter, Yvonne M. Pompan of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, Jacqueline A. Pompan, Joseph M. Pompan and Michael K. Meadows; a sister, Thelma Caudill of Middletown; two brothers, Vernon Barker and Glenn Barker, both of Middletown; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elsy Meadows; her second husband, Grover McCreary; her parents, O.D. and Nora Alice Barker; three sisters, Elta Dutko, Ethel Lovelace and Dixie Adams; two brothers, Ossie and Raish Barker; and a son, Obie Thorton Meadows. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Colp officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery.
