BARKER, Vernon age 92 formerly of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at his home, where he resided for 20 years. He was born February 2, 1921 in Dennison, KY to the late OB and Nora (Benniston) Barker. Vernon was a retired employee of GM. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII in the European Theater earning a Purple Heart, he was a member of the Breiel Boulevard Church of God and had lived in the Miami Valley area all of his life. Survivors include his two sons David L. (Sharon) Barker of Sarasota, FL, Steven D. Barker of Middletown, 4 grandchildren Jeff, Brian, Cindy and Amy, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 12 NOON at the HERR-RIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, OH 45044 with Pastor Glenn Barker officiating. Burial Springboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
