Wilson, OK β€” Services for James Edgar Beck, 73, of Jennings, La., will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, in Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jody Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Hewitt Cemetery.


Born March 18, 1935, in Wilson to S.C. and Winnie Marie Claxton Beck, he died Friday, July 11, 2008, in American Legion Hospital, in Jennings. He married Mary Alice Young on March 12, 1966, in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his father, Jan. 20, 1975; his mother, Dec. 3, 1990; two sisters, Betty Rich and Wanda Jean Beck; and an infant brother.


He was raised in Wilson and graduated in 1954 from Wilson High School and attended Murray State College. Before his retirement, he owned and operated Ardmore Termite Company for 22 years.


He loved cowboying, ranching and dancing. For years he and his wife traveled between Ardmore and Louisiana where he truly enjoyed fishing and hunting with his "Uncle Louis" and friends.


Survivors include his wife of 42 years, of the home; a brother, Roy W. Beck, Lake Texoma; brothers-in-law, Rick "Coony" Young, Ardmore and Leo Rich, Wilson; many nieces, nephews, and classmates; and leaves behind many friends.


Bearers will be Tommy Ray Jones, L.C. Loving, David Howerton, Travis Phillips, Lavon Smith, Jim Rudd and Marvin Sullivan. Honorary bearers will be Richard "Coony" Young, Danny Steele, Charlie Steele and Sammie Stearns.


Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in Alexander Funeral Home.
