Mary Ann's father, William David Elliott (1795-1865) fought in the War of 1812 and was at The Battle of New Orleans with General Andrew Jackson.
William David Elliott's parents were Lt. Thomas Elliott (born: 1761 in Virginia died: 1805 in "West Florida" in the present-day East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, area) and Elizabeth Mayers. Thomas Elliott (1761-1805) was in the Kershaw Regiment, South Carolina, during the Revolutionary War, and he was an aide-de-camp to General Francis Marion ("The Swamp Fox").
