Virginia EvaLee Abbott, 93, of Elkview went home to be with the Lord Friday February 3, 2023 at home after a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred Newton Bird and Anna Belle Nichols Bird. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Ambrose Abbott and Lonnie Gay Drake Jr.; sons, Robert and Dave Drake; daughters, Brenda Drake and Linda Lou Fields; brothers, Charlie Bird, Johnny Bird, Burl Bird and Jimmy Bird; sisters, Betty Rogers, Jean Jones, Jo Ann Smith and Donna Jean Osbourne.

She was a member of the Jordan Light Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by: sons, Alfred Drake and Don Drake; daughters, Joyce Drake and Kathy Payne; sisters, Sharon Hannigan, Shirley Braley, Vera Williams and Verna Dawson; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

The visitation will be 12 PM to 1 PM Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Matics Funeral Home Inc. Clendenin. The funeral will immediately follow at 1 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Jett officiating.
