Betty L. Rogers, 77, of Newton, died March 10, 2014, in the CAMC – Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

She was born October 29, 1936, at Lizemores, Clay County, a daughter of the late Alford Newton and Ora Helena Truman Bird. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit A. Rogers in 2010; a daughter Kathy Holcomb in 2011; a sister, Mona Jean Jones; and four brothers, Jimmy, Burl, Charlie and John Bird.

Betty was a homemaker. She was also a former employee of Kellwood Company and the Sandy Brae Golf Course.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Holcomb of Indore and Dawn Wilkinson of Unionville, MO; seven sisters, Donna Osborne of Wallback, Verna Dawson of Bartow, FL, Vera Williams of Diamond, Shirley Braley of Duck, Sharon Hannigan of South Charleston, Joan Smith of Parkersburg and Evelee Abbott of Elkview; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Roy Huffman officiating. Burial will be in the Tawney Cemetery, Newton.

Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
