Mary Ann Clements Thompson-Bray, 76 years, 10 months and 27 days of age, departed this life on Saturday afternoon, March 27th, 1948 at the Somerset Hospital after an illness of ten weeks.
Mary was born in Farnell, Kentucky on April 29th, 1871, daughter of the late J.C. and Nancy Spradlyn Clemens. In 1931 Mary moved from Berea, Kentucky to Somerset. She was a member of the Grave Hill Baptist Church. In early life she became a Christian and followed the teachings of her Master throughout her life.
Mary was survived by her second husband, Marion Green Bray; two sons from her first marrage, William Lee Thompson of Richmond, Kentucky and Luther "Estle" Thompson of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter from her first marrage, Ruby Thompson of Somerset, Kentucky; two sons from her second merrage, Johnnie Green Bray of Hamilton, Ohio and George Bray of Somerset, Kentucky; two sisters, Malinda Croucher of Gainesville, Texas and Nova Foster of Somerset, Kentucky; two brothers, J.W. Clemens of Buechel, Kentucky and James Clemens of Edmonton, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Clemens and Nancy Clemens; her first husband, Mose Martin Thompson, who departed this life on July 7th, 1918; and one daughter, Lavada Thompson Rogers, who departed this life on December 28th, 1937.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at the Alexander Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Willie Randall officiating.
Burial followed in the Alexander Chapel Cemetery.
