Lewis A. Decker, for many years a resident of Paradise, Orange county, but who removed to Middletown in the summer of 1908, died at his residence, 261 North street, on Saturday evening, of grip, after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Decker was the son of John Decker and Ida Jane (Case) Decker, and was born at Cuddebackville. The family moved to Paradise and there Mr. Decker grew to manhood and, following the occupation of carpenter, spent the remainder of his years there until two years ago, when he came to Middletown, with his family. He always enjoyed good health until a few weeks ago, when he was taken with a heavy cold, which subsequently developed into pneumonia.

There survives him his widow, Jennie Frances Decker; a son, Lord O. Decker, fireman on the O. & W., and two daughters, Avasta, wife of John F. Hughes, a conductor on the O. & W., and Eliza J., wife of James Thompson, also a fireman on the O. & W.

Of Mr. Decker's brothers and sisters there survive: Gilbert Decker and Mrs. David Dunham, of this city; Amanda, wife of Abraham Nearpass, of Sparrowbush; Mrs. Kate Moore, of Westbrookville, and Mrs. Ann Lewis, of Paradise, Orange county. Another brother, James, died at Paradise in 1898.

Funeral services will be held at his late residence, 261 North street, on Wednesday morning, at 9 o'clock. Interment at Rock Hill, Sullivan county.
