2 Jul 2008: Beulah G. Shaffer, 93, of Hershey passed away Monday, June 30, 2008, in the Masonic Village Nursing Home in Elizabethtown. She was born July 9, 1914, in Palmyra, and was one of eight children of the late Daniel and Lucy (Hetrick) Gerberich. After attending one room school houses for eight years, Beulah became an employee of the Hershey Chocolate Co., where she worked until her retirement in 1978. After retirement, she loved growing flowers and cooking homemade Pennsylvania Dutch foods. Beulah became an outstanding quilter in her later years as well. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer United Church of Christ in Hershey. Surviving are a son, Robert L. Shaffer of Hershey; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn DeLong of Hershey; and a brother, Ray Gerberich of Hershey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John A. Shaffer; a daughter, Nancy; and a son, John Jr.; brothers Mahlon, Daniel Jr., and George; sisters, Betty Hetrick and Beatrice Boyer. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Hershey Cemetery. [Lebanon Daily News]
