John McGoey, a well known resident of the town of Oswegatchie, died yesterday morning at his home on the McGoey road, after less than a day's illness. Mr. McGoey was 86 years of age. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John McGoey, natives of Ireland, and was born on the farm where he passed away. For a number of years he was employed at St. Lawrence State hospital in the capacity of farm superintendent and after retiring from this position returned to his own home, where he had lived ever since. He was married to Miss Nancy J. Barnett, a half-sister of the late Hon. Daniel Magone of Ogdensburg, who died many years ago. They had no children. Mr. McGoey is survived by his sister, Miss Mary McGoey, who resided with him on the homestead. Mr. McGoey was a member of St. Mary's parish of this city. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's cathedral tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock and the remains will be placed in the vault at St. Mary's cemetery.

Mr. McGoey was a well known and respected resident of the town and his demise will occasion deep and wide spread regret.
