SULPHUR — Mervine J. Myers, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in a local nursing home.
He was a native of Rayne, and he moved to the Sulphur area in 1941. Mr. Myers was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He retired from Olin Chemical as a welder in 1988. Mr. Myers was a Navy veteran. He had a great love for fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary O. Myers of Sulphur; one daughter, Karen Bowers of Carlyss; two sisters, Jane Rivers of Hollendale, Miss., and Shirley LeBouef of Sulphur; one brother, Norris Myers of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Scott Bowers and wife Laura and Marcia Bowers; and one great-grandson, Taylor Doucet.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, from Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence Kohler will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 p.m. today in the funeral home with a rosary at 7 p.m.
