Norris Myers, 86, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, in a local hospital.

Norris was a native of Rayne and had been a resident of Sulphur since his early childhood. He met and married the love of his life, Loretta, and they had 63 wonderful years together. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church where he attended mass regularly. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the American Legion, attending family gatherings, and taking care of his yard. He had a love for being around people, having never met a stranger, and would often visit the local hospitals and nursing homes. Norris retired from Olin Chemical Company after 40 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Myers; his children, Wayne Myers and wife, Pam, Cynthia Ann "Cyndi" Myers, and Darren L. Myers; his sister, Shirley LeBoeuf, all of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Maggie Gautreaux, Kami McLendon, Joseph Myers, Joshua Myers, Jade Marler, and Kandi Myers; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Myers; and siblings, Edith Breaux, Gilford Myers, Mervin Myers, Jane Rivers, and Mazie Guidry.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Andrews Kollanoor, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
