Born Harold Edward Christensen, son of Anders Hansen Christensen (1820-1909) and Petrine Olsdatter (1826-1910) at Rudkøbing, Langeland, Denmark on 5th August 1858. Harold immigrated with his brother Julius and Julius' future wife Christine to Christchurch, New Zealand in 1874. From there they travelled to the Colony of Queensland and joined their brother Carl Ulrick Christensen and his wife Hansine. The boys were known as the Christie brothers. In 1876, Harold left and went to California where he met and married Mary Ragan in 1879 as Harold E. Christie. The couple moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they used the names Christie, Christensen and Christy on various records, settling on Christy for their family. They lived in Klamath Falls until their deaths.
