Helen N. Abbott 87 years old of Murphysboro formerly of Sandoval finished her mission on earth on Tuesday November 20, 2007 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
She was born on September 26, 1920, in Marion County Illinois she was the eldest of three children of John & Ora (nee Peddicord) Nagel.
Helen is survived by 1 son Marc Abbott & wife Laura of Morrison CO. 2 daughters Linda Langston of Elsberry MO and Becky Abbott of Carbondale. 1 brother Charles Nagel of Ft. Wayne IN. and 1 sister Naida Uchitjil & husband Robert of Odin.
She was preceded in death by her parents John & Ora, a Son in Law Michael Langston, a Sister in Law Julia Nagel and a Good friend Pat Omera
Helen grew up in Marion County. She worked for the State of Illinois Dept of Registration & Education in Springfield IL. She retired in 1986 after 23 years of service for the U.S.Air Force at Scott Air Force Base in the Inspector General's Office. She moved to Murphysboro in 2000.
She was a Lifetime Member of the Illinois Parent & Teachers Association and a former member of the ILL. Business and Professional Women's Organization. Her departure leaves not a void for her loved ones, but a rich legacy filled with Helen's ever-present love and irrepressible nature. Helen was truly a treasure on loan from God...a force to be reckoned with at times, yet always a source of comfort, wisdon, and compassion.
