Lester Schultz was born on April 19, 1914 in rural Milbank to Gustave and Anna (Fredrichsen) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed October 19, 1930 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Alban Township. He attended Alban No. 2 country school. Early in his adult life, he worked as a farm laborer.

Mr. Schultz was united in marriage with Vera E. Heuer on December 15, 1943 in Milbank. Following marriage, the couple farmed south of Milbank and east of Milbank for many years. Mrs. Schultz died on November 14, 1992.

Mr. Schultz entered the Wilmot Community Home in Wilmot on January 12, 1996. He had entered the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN just days before his death.

He enjoyed baseball and was a pitcher for some of the local teams in his younger years. He also enjoyed music, reading, fishing and hunting. He was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Diann (Orville) Dauwen; two sons, Lyle (Phyllis) and Gene; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his twin sister, Esther (Harold) Oetter; his aunt, Alma Fredrichsen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vera, two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
