Deceased was born July 2, 1887, on the farm four miles east of Milbank where he spent his entire life. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schultz, pioneer residents. He had attained the age of 63 years, 10 months and 27 days.
He was a life long member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Alban township, where he was baptized in August 1887. After due instruction he was confirmed in the same church in 1903.
On December 15, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Fredrichsen of Big Stone township, who with five children survive him. They are Martin, of this city; the twins, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Otter, of Chicago, and Lester, Milbank; Mrs. Oscar (Alma) Angerhofer, Alban township, and Fred, New Brunswick, N.J.; along with eight grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Edward Goldau, of Milbank. A daughter, their first child, died at the age of five years. All the children were home to attend the funeral.
A cheerful, conscientious man, Mr. Schultz enjoyed the esteem and good will of a very large circle of friends. He had not enjoyed good health for several years, during which he failed noticeably, although always able to be up and about and was in Milbank just a day or two previous to his passing.
The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Emanuel funeral home and the Alban Lutheran church, his pastor Rev. F. Wessler, officiating. Interment was in the Bethlehem Lutheran church cemetery. The casket bearers were Otto and William Angerhofer, William Adler, William A. Loeschke, J.G. Tulowetzke and Arthur Gahr.
Out of town folks in attendance at the funeral other than the immediate family were Mr. and Mrs. Eric Schultz, Alberta, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Becker, St. Paul, Minn.
