The origin of the Rake cemetery is unknown. I received the following information from Millie Covey Fry via e-mail stating: "I visited the Rake Cemetery (formerly the Snodgrass farm and cemetery)on SR26 in Lawrence Township this morning with George Rake. He mentioned that a close relative has researched the Rake Family. Contact George at 740/473-2215. He mentioned this morning that the Rake family was from Germany and was in Washington County in the early 1800s. My ancestor was Hiram Snodgrass and his daughter, Sarah, married Elijah Rake. Eventually the Snodgrass cemetery was renamed."

Surveyed 18 June 1875, area called Love. Rebecca's father build first house in Harrietsville, Ohio. Rebecca died 9 Dec 1898 age 90 yrs, 6 mos, 1 dy. Buried Rake Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.

JOHN RAKE: Is believed to be the son of Abraham Rake (1780 - 2/9/1869) Abraham is believed to be the son of Johann Phillip Racke (2/12/1736-?). Johann Phillip is believed to be the son of Johann Jacob Racke (1695-?) who married Anna Margaretha Morgensterns (1699-?).

ABRAHAM RAKE (1780 - 2/9/1869): Married Suzanne Simion (1783 - 12/6/1862) having thirteen (13) children.

Anna (1802-?) married George Miller having four children: Peter, Abraham, John, Isaac. No further information is known.

Jacob (1808-?) married Lovice Barnhart (1810-?) having eleven (11) children. Jacob changed the spelling of his children's last name at this time from Rake to Raike. My geneology trace and my nephew's, Samuel Eugene Raike who done this research, is derived from Jacob. Jacob is believed to be buried in the Rake cemetery with the headstone Jacob L. Rake with no DOB or DOD.

Fredrick (1811-?) married Eleanor Masters having four children: Catherine (1842-?); James (1843-?); Mary (1845-?) & Abraham (1847-?)

Mary (1816-?) married Kinsley Davis. No further information is known.

Abraham (1817 - 12/17/1853) married Nancy Powell (1817 - 12/17/1853) having five children: David (1842-1853); Mary A. (1846-1853); Susan (1847-1853); Minnie Alosa (?-9/8/1868); & Charles D. (?-2/2/1872).

David Presley (8/18/1821 - 10/22/1864) married Sarah Louise Eveligh (10/29/1829 having two children: George W. (1847-?); Hermonia (1849-?) David Presley is believed to be buried in Veteran's Cemetery in Topeka, KS although no such cemetery can be found in Find A Grave.

Suzanna (6/1/1822 - 12/2/1896) No further information is known.

Isaac (1/17/1826 - 2/22/1901) married Elizabeth Ingram (9/27/1836 - 6/25/1887) having eight (8) children: Sarah Susannah (9/5/1853 - 4/10/1947) married Artemus Cooper (7/25/1847 - 4/21/1908); David (10/10/1855 - 12/8/1860); Jacob (8/18/1856 - 4/11/1881); Anna (11/20/1857 - 11/21/1857); Daniel M. (10/12/1861 - 3/11/1936) married Sarah Ellen Smith (5/20/1864 - 7/19/1939); Margaret Elizabeth (10/11/1863 - 5/20/1893) married Lafayette Waggnor (4/18/1858 - 8/14/1935); Charles Abram (2/4/1869 - 3/4/1900); John Clermont (12/1/1878 - 12/25/1957).
