Mrs. Essie M.Davis, 88, of Jefferson Square Manor, died Wednesday at 2:05 p.m., following a lengthy illness.
The daughter of David and Amy Powell Quivey, she was born in Grinnell May 19, 1878, and had resided in Ottumwa many years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include a son, Stuart D. Davis of Ruthven, six grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Davis, in 1923, and by two brothers.
The service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor A. R. Klein officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Pallbearers will be Robert Klone, Ralph Emerson, Ivan McGee, Gail Johnson, Clem Bertroche and Clarence Brady.
The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral Chapel until 11 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church.
