George W. Davis was the son of Andrew S. Davis and Anna (Schafer) Davis. He was born in Iowa. He married Essie Myrtle Quivey, of Grinnell on December 13th 1898. Together they had one son, Stuart Donald Davis who lived in Iowa his entire life.

George served in the National Guard Company K, 50th infantry and also served in the Spanish American War. He contracted malaria during that war and was never in good health after that.

George is laid to rest in the Woodland Cemetery, not far from his father. His mother's grave stone is missing, but she is listed as being buried there as well.
